2022 in Travel

As 2022 come to a close I reflect on a huge year of Travel for Donna and I. In the past year we ultimately traveled over 90,000 miles, to 22 different countries and 8 different states this year. We visited Europe, the Middle East, Central America, The Caribbean and some different parts of the United States. We visited 8 completely new countries for us and with the 22 countries in a year beat are previous record of 14 countries in a year. We for the first time had a Southwest Airlines Companion Pass and A-List Preferred Status so we too advantage of it and tried to travel as much as we could this year. We took multiple cruises this year and met some new friends on a couple of our cruise that we still keep in touch with.

While in 2022 we have seen travel get better around the world, travel early in the year was still challenging with Covid-19. In multiple countries we had to test and present paperwork to be able to enter and until later in the year the US still required testing to enter. I was quoted in a New York Times article talking about the testing for re-entering the US going on a little too long. This year like other years during the pandemic there were airline issues world wide. We thankfully had no cancelations this year but we had some worry especially when flying through Europe with possible cancelations. We did have the longest security line we have ever been in at London Heathrow (over an hour long).

For 2023 we will most likely not travel quite a much as 2022 but we hope to visit some new places, countries and to finish out the last state we are missing. I am hopeful that things will be smoother for not only travel but for everything else as 2022 has had its challenges and hardships around the world.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2023 and hope you will have opportunities to get out there and learn something new and go someplace different this next year!
