There is a wonderful Japanese Restaurant in Pearland that has food that well represents the nation of Japan and all at a great price. Yamamori is located right off of 288 near the JC Penny’s and shopping center there. Donna and I visited just recently and were very impressed with the quality and craftmanship of the dishes there. The atmosphere of the restaurant is one that you can enjoy a family meal or a nice date with your significant other. The staff here are very knowledgeable about Japanese Cuisine and very friendly. We came for lunch but they have great deals for both lunch and dinner. For lunch they have an All You Can Eat package for $19.95 where you can try any of their Sushi Rolls. If you are not a fan of raw Sushi they have plenty of cooked options as well. They also have an All You Can Eat Dinner for $31.95 that includes appetizers, soups, salads, rolls and a beverage (including some alcohol). They also have some other great Japanese dishes such as Hibachi grilled items. Here is our experience at the restaurant.
We have visited over 60 countries but have not made it to Japan just yet. We have seen many travel shows about Japan and its unique culture and food. We have also seen shows such as the Iron Chef about Japanese cuisine but we have not really had a lot of Japanese food over the years outside of Miso soup. At Yamamori in Pearland we decided to try a variety of Japanese dishes. Our first dish was Miso Soup which is a traditional Japanese soup that has tofu in it. The soup was hot and very tasty!
We next tried two different Sushi Rolls. We tried a Boston Roll and a Chicken Tempura. There are many different kinds of Sushi Rolls available to try and we have not had many over the years, so it was something relatively new for us to try. Both of the Sushi Rolls had an artistic presentation and were equally as tasty. The flavors and unique and very good. I especially liked the Chicken Tempura with its delicious crunchy chicken. It came with Wasabi which is just as spicy as I’ve heard from others but good as well. Do not mistake it for Guacamole as some Texans might think it is!
We got chicken and steak Hibachi as our main course that came with fried rice, grilled vegetables and two very good dipping sauces. The steak and chicken were tender and moist and had a great taste. Dipping in the two sauces really increased the flavor but were not needed for sure. The Hibachi style of cooking has been used for hundreds of years in Japan and is a great cultural meal to have as is Sushi of course.
We really enjoyed our culinary journey to Japan at Yamamori and for sure plan on visiting again in the future to try more Japanese food. It was a great break from the average day and a way to take a journey across the world from our own city!
