Greece

The nation of Greece (Officially the Hellenic Republic) is located in the far South Eastern region of Europe. The country borders Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria to the North. It borders Turkey, and the Aegean Sea to the East. The rest of the land borders the Mediterranean Sea. Greek is the official language of Greece and it is part of the European Union so the Euro is the currency. The country has an extensive history including being the basis for Western Civilization and the cradle of democracy. The country has a long military history with some of the most famous ancient battle being fought by Greeks and more recently Greece was heavily involved in fighting fascist Italy and Nazi Germany during World War II. The country is famous for its Greek food, Ancient Temples, the founder of the Olympic Games, and the many beautiful Islands. There are up to 6,000 Greek Islands. The country is the starting point of many cruises and a great place to tour. The country as of late has faced a debt crisis but it is recovering. This country of around 11 million people has a vibrant culture and one to go see and experience.
