2024 – Our Year in Travel
2024 has been a turbulent year in the world as there have been more issues world-wide since 2020 and the pandemic seemed to have broken the world. While things might seem bleak, we can saw we have great hope after our travels and meeting so many great people around the world. In our travels this year we had many firsts for us such as:
- Our first trip to South America (Peru)
- Our furthest South trip we have done (Argentina, Uruguay and Southern Barzil)
- Traveling like a local in Mexico while staying at a good friend’s home for Dia De Los Muertos
- Traveled to a new countries for us that is known for their violence and crime, but we found peaceful and friendly people (Colombia, and Trinidad and Tobago)
- We finished visiting all the Scandinavian Countries (Norway) and saw their Independence Day celebrations
- We met some many new lifelong friends
- The biggest change for us is we decided this year to use our experience to help others travel as new Travel Advisors
We traveled to 25 different countries, 5 different states and near 94,000 miles this year. We broke our record by a couple thousand miles this year. While all the places and cultures we experienced like I said above the people we met is what gives us hope.
In Trinidad, we met Calvin who later in the year gave us great tours and we go to know well. In Mexico, I got to meet my good friend Emilio in person, and he pulled the red carpet out for us as he showed us around Jalisco. In Peru, we met Carolina on a day tour and Rudy was our Trafalgar tour guide who we are good friends with to this day. In Sint Maarten, we were having trouble getting a cab to our ferry and we found a cab waiting. Two gentlemen from Colombia graciously let us share the cab with them multiple times throughout the trip. We then got to know Mauricio and Jorge and kept in contact with them. In Argentina my work colleagues and friends went above and beyond for us. Vero gave us multiple tours of her city on her own time, and Javier took us on the subway and gave us a tour of his neighborhood on his own time. There are so many others like Vicky in Colombia and Cam in Grenada, and our new friends at our travel this year that went above and beyond for us during our travels.
The friendliness and how much care people around the world gave to us really energizes us as we go into an uncertain year. No one knows what 2025 has in store for any of us but from a travel perspective if we meet the same kind of wonderful people on our travels we will have a good 2025. While other things seem ambiguous and concerning for us personally for 2025 we still look forward to meeting new friends along the way and keeping up with great friends we have made.
If you want to go on an adventure in 2025, we really do want to help and we are always grateful to anyone who wants to help support our small business. We will be back sharing travel deals, news, and trips next year! We are thankful for you all and wish you all the best in 2025!
