Why Book with a Travel Agent?

We will be sending out our next travel deals, events and news email in the near future, but I want to share a recent story that highlights why booking with a dedicated and knowledgeable travel agent is well worth it. There are many different reasons why booking with a travel agent is worth it. You get their insider knowledge of different cities and countries, they can help find deals, in today’s busy world they help take out some stress around travel planning, you are helping a small business and most of all you have someone in your corner that can help you when things go wrong. Most large companies you will end up being on hold and when you finally get through you are talking to someone overseas who might not know about the topic you are looking into.

Mission Control for your Travel

I am a third generation Miller who worked for NASA. My Grandfather was in Mission Control during Mercury through the early days of the Space Shuttle. Engineers like me know we need to work through problems as they come. A Travel Agent is no different.

One of our clients recently went on a trip to Belize and Guatemala and through a series of misfortunate situations with a friend had his passport stolen while in Belize. He made it to the border between Guatemala and Belize when he reached for his passport it wasn’t there, and he was stuck. He contacted us and like in Mission Control we started working to help him get home. We called all the hotels and tour companies we booked to see if a passport was found, and they all tried to help but ultimately it was stolen not by any of the tour companies but a by a now former friend. We immediately got him contact information for the US Embassy in Belmopan, Belize. We got him hotel and transportation in the city that was safe and nice. After he got to his hotel and he had some time to relax we worked behind the scenes to arrange transportation to Guatemala to be ready once he got a replacement passport, hotel for Guatemala and helped give him directions live when he shared his location as he was going to the Embassy. We also did everything we could to make sure he knew we were with him during this stressful time. He ultimately made it back home safely.

Beyond the other benefits of booking with a small business travel agent, having that Mission Control for your adventure is very valuable to have. Yes, you can book your tour online but if things go wrong, it is reassuring to have someone you know and have worked with you to give you a hand.
